Let me wish a hearty "welcome back" to all our returning students at Prairie, and a "welcome" to those who are new!
It has been a very busy, but a very good, start to the new semester. I have four courses this semester: Acts and the Early Church, Johannine Literature and Revelation, and New Testament Theology, in addition to my standard Introduction to the New Testament. Four courses is a heavy load under any circumstances, but the weight is exacerbated by the fact that one of these is brand new (New Testament Theology) and that I'm doing the others differently than I've done them in the past. But I'm not complaining (not yet at least!) since I enjoy them all, they are all off to a great start, and I've got some great students to work with.
But my busy-ness is not merely related to normal start-of-semester activities. I'm also teaching a six-week series on the Apostles' Creed at my local church each Sunday, and I'm preparing for a chamber recital this Sunday. One of the highlights of that recital is Mozart's D Major Flute Quartet, for which I'm playing the violin part. Somewhere in there is a not-so-subtle invitation, then, for anyone in the area who's interested to stop by Mt. Olive church at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday for some exploration of the Apostles' Creed, then to pop by the Maxwell Centre at 3:00 p.m. the same day for some invigoration by Mozart and company.
